Well its official. Guitar Hero: Metallica has now officially been announced. Its set to hit stores in early 2009. Personally I can’t wait.

They are taking this game to a different level. It will not follow the same path as GH: Aerosmith, where the band talks about the history of… If you want that, you can watch the Behind the Music of Metallica on YouTube. In this game you will be playing as an up-and-coming band trying to earn a spot on the road with Metallica. Much like the GH: Aerosmith, you will play opening set songs from other bands and end each set as Metallica.

Neversoft has based this game off the Guitar Hero: World Tour engine and kept all of the same new features like, the guitar slider, the music studio, and open bass notes. But with this being Metallica, they needed to add a little more flavor so they felt it was necessary to throw in Expert Plus mode which is a new difficulty level on drums if you have a splitter for two bass pedals. There are other cool features like, Drum Fill Mode, DVD Style Content, and in the GHTunes Studio you will have sounds that were sampled directly from James Hetfields ESP Truckster guitar and Tom Araya’s ESP Bass.

In an interview with Game Informer Magazine, Lars talked about other bands that he was excited about including in the game. Most notably, Slayer. He mention how difficult it was to finally get them into the game because of the strictness of Microsoft and how they monitor certain lyrical content. One band that he mentioned wouldn’t be in the game, unfortunately, was Iron Maiden. That is truly unfortunate.

Some other bands that will be in the game:

Alice in Chains

Bob Seger

Judas Priest

Kyuss

Lynyrd Skynrd

Mastodon

Michael Schenker Group

Queen

Foo Fighters

The Sword

AND MORE!!!

Do you have the webcam on the desk, well it has a surface sensor that prevents it from falling when being controlled remotely. It is a limited edition so if its a must have, check out nikkor2d2.com!

Also from Nikko, the R2-D2 DVD projector. This thing is awesome. Its a total entertainment system built into a remote controlled R2-D2. Built in DVD player, inputs for your Wii, XBox 360, and PS3. It is after all a hi-def projector. Multi-positioning for viewing on any wall, contrast ratio of 1800:1, and optical digital output for 5.1 surround sound. Wanna create a slideshow of pictures from your camera? Use the S-Video input. Or use the USB slot for a flash drive or multi-card slot to show pictures, music or video. The remote is modeled after the one and only Millennium Falcon. And best of all it has original R2-D2 sounds.

I absolutely love this game. The Be A Pro mode is fantastic as well as the challenging Tournament mode. I am currently in my first tournament and so far so good. Playing as Manchester United, I just took over first place from Chelsea. Its been a tough tournament with only about 10 games left until we crown a victor, but currently I am trying to save as many videos of my sweet plays to easportsfootball.com.

Here is my first one, check it out! Its a great free kick I took with Christiano Ronaldo. I was so happy.

Intel has decided to join the Solid-State-Drive category with the new Intel X-25M. Just like their top end CPU’s, it’s built for speed. This unit really pushes the SATA 3G interface to the max. So far, it stands at the top of the speed charts for SSD’s and standard hard drives. At 206MB/s this drive almost doubles the read speeds of the MemoRight MR25.2-32/64 GT.

The one downfall of this drive is in the write technology. Intel opted for multilevel chip (MLC) technology. MLC can not compare to the write speeds of single-level chip (SLC) memory technology. Running two hard drives in RAID 0 is the closest you will get to running near the speeds of this drive. But is it worth the price with only an 80GB storage amount?

This SSD will cost you approximately $600. I would say if you truly have the cash to spend then absolutely yes. However, if you cash flow is a problem, then the Western Digital Velociraptor 150 will get you pretty fast read speeds and very fast write speeds for approximately $180 on newegg.com. You could look at it this way though… At $600, the X-25M is only a third of some of the more popular SSD’s.

Is your site designed to make money? Or to gain traffic? Or maybe both? What if I told you there is one thing that you MUST do in the design phase of your blog/website to ensure that you have a decent shot at both?!?! Do you know what Search Engine Crawlers are? Let me explain!

In order to increase income earned, you must increase traffic, right? Well, in order to do that, you either must know a lot of people or you need to get into the search engines. Preferably on the first page. I am no expert but this was pointed out by someone whom I consider an expert at this

First: Google’s crawlers crawl your blog searching for updated material that can be submitted to their search engine, just like Yahoo and MSN and others. There is a way to format your site in order for the crawlers to crawl the content first. That is, by the way, what you want and the key to this whole trick. It makes no sense to have the menu, or anything else read by the crawlers first. As for your readers, well fortunately, they are given the ability to make decisions, we hope. Therefore, your menu can be listed in your sidebar just as easily. Actually on a lot of blogs I have been to, the menu is both on the side and top, which makes no sense.

So then you ask, well, “your blog has the menu at the top?” Yes it does, and currently I am working to change themes for both, TheYoungGuy.com and HardwareBlogPortal.com to improve my blog traffic.

Second: How do you test this. Well, being in this wonderful world we live in, there is a way do just about everything and this is no exception. Google recommends you use a program called LYNX TEXT BROWSER to visually see your blog in text only format. It is a wonderful tool to use. Lynx will display your blog in the exact order the crawlers will read it.

A few key things to understand. One, crawlers do not read javascript. Whats this mean? Well, it means that your beautiful adsense ads are not crawled by the crawlers. Therefore ad-placement will not effect the crawlers. And Two, You may have read posts from top names, like Darren Rowse, better known as Problogger, state that he prefers “writing for humans”. You have to understand the difference in writing the content and designing your site. I 100% agree with Darren on this topic. When it comes to writing the actual posts, it is important they don’t sound robotic in nature, like they are designed for the crawlers. But setting up your site to allow the crawlers direct access to your content is very important.

Bottom line, when choosing your blog theme, make sure you think about what you are truly trying to do. If making money, driving traffic, or both is your objective, make sure your theme is setup in such a way, the crawlers will see content first. I hope this helps some of you out, it really did me.

So I have read around that net on a few other forums, that there are a lot of people experiencing problems with their PS3 locking up right after it boots up.

Here is one reason why this could be happening…

So you all know that there is a laser that is used to read the DVD/BD/CD or whatever right. Well PS3’s have an autostart function when the unit is turned on to allow for any game/movie/cd(music) to play automatically at startup.

The way this works is, the red laser stays on all the time if this function is turned on so that when the unit is powered on, the disc will auto-start. Well guess what happens…. The lens will burn up, causing a malfunctioning PS3 (lock up). Other problems reported are, the discs can’t be read at all.

If this happens to you, the only 2 solutions are… Buy a new PS3 or call Sony and pay them $150 for them to fix the lens. This is not covered by the warranty to my knowledge. So, get it fixed and then go into settings when you get it back and turn the auto-start function off.

This is my 1999 ESP Eclipse Custom. It is not an ESP LTD, but the true, first series Eclipse. As I mentioned in the previous post, I absolutely love this guitar. At the time, it was the last in stock at a Musicians Friend Store in Knoxville, TN. I had gone there as a young musician to buy a Jackson Flying V, and after playing the V had determined that it just didn’t feel right to me. I was about to leave and I saw this sweet guitar sitting on stand. Picked it up and couldn’t put it down. It was unbelievable.

The tone of this guitar can not be matched. The sound can conform to any sound you need. For me personally, I play a lot of hard rock. From fast thrash metal, to slow blues, to even a little bluegrass here and there. Beatles to Dream Theater, this guitar covers it all and I don’t think I could ever replace it.

I have been asked this question hundreds of times by LCD consumers. The best cleaner for an LCD screen, weather it be your notebook LCD, desktop monitor LCD (most), or even an LCD television, is any cleaner designed for such use. You can find these cleaners at your local electronics store.

You can actually create your own. A simple 50/50 solution of 70% isopropyl alcohol and water will do the trick. And by no means should you ever spray any liquid directly on the LCD. It is recommended that you spray your selected cleaner onto a lint-free cloth and then wipe the surface clean. But don’t use Windex.

ESP guitars are some of the nicest electric guitars out there today. They have earned a reputation as one of the most well known guitar companies out there that many artists use.

The ESP Eclipse has been my choice of instrument for almost 9 years now. Actually the guitar I own and still play to this day is a 1999 ESP Eclipse Custom. This was from the original lineup of Eclipses and personally I believe it to have one of the best sounds every generated by a guitar. I added a set of EMG-81 humbuckers to it for that more defined sound that EMG is famous for. The body of the Eclipse is Mohogany with a Rosewood fingerboard. 24 Extra Jumbo Frets that allow for killer solo’s and smooth rhythm playing.

This is an all around guitar that fits all needs. I have been known more as a rhythm player but when I get the feeling to kick it into overdrive, the Eclipse has just the right tones to cover the screeming solo’s.

The image above is the newer ESP Eclipse II Custom that I have been thinking of buying for a few years now but I am still undecided. I will be adding some pictures of my guitar as well as some other famous ESP Eclipse’s, one being Kirk Hammetts famous KH-3 Spider Eclipse.

I have read a lot, on and off line, about niche blogging and also, shamefully, spent money on an E-Book or two on how to do so. So far none have panned out the way I thought they would. How many of you can say the same thing? For sometime now I have used the guidance of, the now infamous, Cybercoder (David Cooley). One thing he has always done and told me to do was K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Stupid). However, like many others I got caught up in the “Make Money Online” crowd and decided I must do more flashy things to draw some attention to my blog and generate traffic. Well for some that works. For me, it didn’t. I need a more logical approach.

I should have paid more attention to David. Well now you all have that chance. Have you spent unnecessary cash on E-Books that tell you all these extravagant ways to make money online or drive more traffic to your site? What if I told you its really not that hard. And the cost is really low. How does $24.99 sound? Yea, compared to other E-Books out there that take days to read and are somewhat hard to understand and cost anywhere from $59.99 to hundreds of dollars, this is a great deal.

Im not trying to sell you an E-Book, but I can truly say this is worth the money. Not only do you get an E-Book that really isn’t that long (13 pages), but you get a copy of Davids Cybercoder Tag Theme for Wordpress, and a video of david actually walking you through how he chooses his domain names all the way through actually posting to the new blog. You couldn’t get a better deal. The package with the video is supposedly going to cost a little more but like I said, WELL WORTH IT!!!

Entitled Wordpress Niche Guide eBook, David Keeps it simple for all of us beginners. So even if you are new to blogging, this E-Book can be used as a guide to setup your blog and get started in the right direction to making money and building your readership.

David has been working closely with another infamous blogger, Garry Conn, for approximately a year now and they have combined their talents into the release of this E-Book. And from the little I know about Garry, he doesn’t put his name on something that fails. Also, Garry uses the theme that David created on some of his blogs and claims to have more than doubled his income for one of his blogs by using this theme. You can read more about Garry’s use of the theme here.

Until I get the “official” okay from David to post a “Buy Now” button on my site, I’ll point you to his site, Cybercoded.net, to purchase the E-Book. He also discusses why he chose to write it. Be sure to leave him a comment and thank him, like I am about to.

Another great plugin I use is the Google (XML) Sitemap Generator. Mainly because I’m usually lazy or simply forget to create and upload my own sitemaps. First let me explain what a site map is.

According to wikipedia, a sitemap “can be either a document in any form used as a planning tool for web design, or a web page that lists the pages on a web site, typically organized in hierarchical fashion. This helps visitors and search engine bots find pages on the site.”

So in the past I used a program called GSiteCrawler to crawl my site and generate XML files that I would then upload to my host to provide the search engines with an updated list/map for the spiders to crawl. Now with this cool plugin, I no longer need to spend that time. I also want to stress that there was nothing wrong with GSiteCrawler. It is a great program that I would recommend to anyone. I just prefer this method.

With Google XML Sitemap Generator I simply install the plugin, activate it, setup it up on my wordpress settings page and let it go. Now it automatically updates my sitemap.xml file and I can focus on the more important things. Gotta love automation.

On the eave of purchasing a new case for my PC, I ran across the new Cooler Master HAF(High Air Flow) 932. This case sports three 23cm fans, one each on the top, side and rear panels all running at just 700rpm. Even at the lower rpm there is plenty of airflow through this case. The case is made of steel, so ruggedness is definite. This case supports ATX, E-ATX and M-ATX motherboards, six 5.25-inch devices, five hard drives and if you have a need, two power supply’s.

It seems to be a combination of previous Cooler Master cases, like the infamous Cosmos case with its push-button locking mechanism. Also the case includes a similar PCI retention clip as the 690 chassis.

The front of this case sports an eSATA, Firewire, and four USB slots. However the USB and Firewire ports are relatively close together. But, for me at least, this is not a problem. Seeing as most of the things I plug into my front panel connections are only done so one at a time. Now as for the water cooling elements of this case. Well if after the immense air flow this case provides, you still feel as if you want/need water cooling, there is plenty of room to do so. This case, while designed around airflow, doesn’t seem to leave out any of the water cooling options. There are retaining holes built onto the rear panel for tubing, the top of the case sports a hole on the top of the case for refilling the reservoir whenever necessary, and if your choose not to have dual-PSU’s then the extra space inside the case is plenty to sport the reservoir itself.

As for my largest complaint with my current case, the Thermaltake Armor. Cable management seems to be a breeze with the HAF. Both side panels of the case can be removed allowing for easy cable management. When the panel, below the motherboard is removed, it displays open holes on the bottom of the motherboard tray that provide for easy cable management. This is a high selling point for me.

This is truly a gamers case, but for the price and features it can be used for any type of PC builder. Speaking of price, the current price on NewEgg.com is $159.99. The case I was considering, the new Thermaltake Armor +, is an easy $249.99. You tell me what the better deal is.

So for those that don’t know, I am a computer technician by day and one of the things that I have been dealing with quite often lately is a Malware program that has a HIGH THREAT LEVEL called AntivirusXP 2008 or WinAntivirus 2008. So have you been infected by this program yet? Usually what happens is, a box will pop up looking very legitimate stating that you have a thousands of viruses. First off, you should already be aware of your pc’s health via current security software.

So as for this wonderful threat! How can it be removed? Well I will list the files that are associated with this program and provide some pointers as to how to remove them. But before I do that, I should explain that it is very important that everyone understands that the information I am about to provide is going to take you into areas of your operating system that the normal user should not normally enter. If you are not comfortable doing so then I urge you to take your PC to a professional to have the problem taken care.

Tools needed:

CCleaner - this program can be used to clean your temp files and ensure that your deleted files are indeed deleted. Also, it has a decent registry cleaning option that will be needed for the purpose of removing this program.

Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware Programs - I prefer Webroot Spysweeper with Antivirus or Kaspersky.

In place of the Registry Cleaner in CCleaner you can also type “regedit” into your run menu and manually edit your registry. But again I stress… You can damage your OS if you delete or change the wrong file.

Removal Instructions

Here are the files that need to be cleaned from your system. You can use CTRL+ALT+DEL to view the processes running on your PC to see if any of the following files are currently running on your system. If they are, click on them one at a time and click End Process. After all processes have been disabled, open and run CCleaners Cleaner Tool and Registry Tool. After running them, click your Start button in Windows and go to Search. Choose to search in “all files and folders”. One by one type the file names that are listed below and search. If any of them are found, right-click and delete them. After completing this process, run a sweep with your anti-virus and anti-spyware program(s). This should end your process. If you still have the program after a restart, you may need to repeat the process. Understand that if there are replicating features of this program that, if not removed, can create problems for you. This is a time consuming process but can save you quite a bit of money if done correctly.

Last think to do is the replace your anti-virus and anti-spyware program(s) because clearly they are not working unless you manually downloaded this program.

I would like to stress the fact that I am in no way responsible for the status of your computer if you choose to follow these steps. They have been proven to work my many technicians and users across the web. Once again I stress if you don’t feel comfortable with any of the steps listed above be sure to contact a local professional.

In a recent post on the official Google Adsense Blog, Arlene Lee posted about how writing quality content is the surest way to make money using adsense. I thought this would be a good topic to visit because after the thousands of times its been said, there are still people out there that believe publishing ads on multiple sites will work just as well as publishing on one or two blogs with high quality content.

Its important to read and understand Googles Webmaster Guidelines when building your sites. Ensure you have good quality, original content that covers topics you are passionate about. The last thing you want to do is build a blog around something you like for a short period of time. Your site will go nowhere. Keep in mind when your writing your content, your readers want certain things. As best you can gather insight from your readers by tracking what posts they tend to read and which they don’t. Also, use your comments section to find out what your readers are looking for as well.

Measure your success. You can’t only rely on specific traffic numbers to tell you weather you successful. Obviously, its all about making money right? So you may be getting thousands of visitors a day but barely making any money. So measure the results using channels in Adsense. Maybe your ad placement color or size just isn’t right. Using channels will help you determine whats best for your site.

So to make it simple, write quality posts, optimize your ads, and measure the results.

I have been watching the news all night about the announcement John McCain made to declare Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, to be his Vice Presidential running mate and I still don’t know what to think. I am in a state of shock.

I actually have to agree with Ted Nugent when he stated something to the effect of, “we as a people need to stand up and take our country back.” While its not a direct quote from the Nuge, that was the impression I received and neither John McCain or Barak Obama gives the impression that they will improve the current position our country is in. I believe adding Sarah Palin to the ticket will help John McCain in the sense that she will open eyes and help capture voters that McCain may not have received originally, however this decision could also backfire on him and push voters away with her lack of experience. Who knows at this point?!?

What do you think?

Backlinks are one of the keys to ranking well in search engines. Without them, you almost never show up on the first, second, or third page in Google, Yahoo or any other search engine. So what are backlinks? Backlinks are links to your site from other blogs or websites. However its important you understand the difference between a backlink and a quality backlink. Quality backlinks are links that are on related niche sites and carry even more weight if they are on sites that you actually interact on. So every time you comment on someones post and add your website link you gain a backlink.

There are a lot of bloggers out there that try to coax people into “free backlink” programs by promising to add a link to their page if you copy certain text from their page onto yours. I do want to point out something though. As many of you have heard before, even bad advertising is good advertising. So the more you get your name out there they better chance you will have in attracting people to your site but if the link isn’t a quality backlink then you may not receive “credit” from Google when its time to update your Page Rank (PR). Something else you should know too. If you manage to have someone with a higher page rank link to your site, those links will carry more weight than say someone with a lower rank.

Ex. If I were to have my page linked on Garry Conns main page, which carries a Page Rank of 5, that would help me out more than if I were to link to another page with a PR of 3, I would not have the same return on investment so-to-speak.

So don’t get sucked into the scams out there and try to build relationships with other bloggers in your niche. This will allow you to gain credibility in your niche and PR.
