Social Blogging

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Myspace, Facebook and many other Social Blogging sites are being used by millions of people for different reasons. My question to you is, why would you not want to leverage that power and opportunity?  Most of you already have either a Myspace or Facebook site or both. What could you do for your blog if you leveraged the traffic you received from either of them.

This is not a new idea, and actually one that I am trying out myself. Many professional bloggers are using this as one method to generate traffic to their site. Twitter provides users with the ability to tell the world what they are doing on the fly. Using Twitter has provided me with the ability to get my blogs out to many more people than I would have originally in a shorter time frame.

Don’t let the obvious marketing tools pass you by because you think they won’t work. Try it and see for yourself.

Blogging Routine

Monday, June 9th, 2008

To go hand in hand with the last post, Setup RSS Feed, I thought it would be important to mention that keeping your readers attention is crucial. If I am going to return to someones blog/website I need to see something I didn’t see before. Keeping the info on your blog up-to-date is key to creating returning readers let alone trying to get them to subscribe to your RSS feed.

So what is your blogging routine look like? I try to start the week by writing 2 or 3 posts and only publishing one the day of. So I actually have a bank of posts that I can use to provide new info. I’ll admit its hard to continue with this practice but if you plan to have a successful blog you will need to keep a steady flow of info for your readers to read.

About Me

I am TheYoungGuy. I am a PC Tech Supervisor for a major retailer. I have been officially blogging for a little over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The idea to do my own personal blog has been floating through my head for months now so I decided to go ahead with the project and see what comes out of it. More
