Your Blog Mobile Style

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Thanks to one of Garry Conn’s new posts I recently learned a cool way to make your blog accessible via mobile devices. There is a website called FeedM8.com which has a very simple UI. All you need to do is visit the site and type in your sites URL and bam, you now have a link created for your mobile device. I have added that link to my blogroll on this site and one of my others. So Im now trying to think of a way to advertise it.

Just another way to get your content out there. Thanks Garry.

Blogging Routine

Monday, June 9th, 2008

To go hand in hand with the last post, Setup RSS Feed, I thought it would be important to mention that keeping your readers attention is crucial. If I am going to return to someones blog/website I need to see something I didn’t see before. Keeping the info on your blog up-to-date is key to creating returning readers let alone trying to get them to subscribe to your RSS feed.

So what is your blogging routine look like? I try to start the week by writing 2 or 3 posts and only publishing one the day of. So I actually have a bank of posts that I can use to provide new info. I’ll admit its hard to continue with this practice but if you plan to have a successful blog you will need to keep a steady flow of info for your readers to read.

Setup RSS Feed

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

So you have setup your blog and you may have posted a few posts already but you need a way to keep people updated on your new content. How about emailing them every time you post new content? Well an RSS feed will take care of that for you. Also a lot of people use feed readers, like Google Reader to check content of their favorite sites in one central location so they don’t have to jump around from site to site.

What is an RSS feed? RSS, meaning Really Simple Syndication, is a popular technology for notifying users of updates to content in a website, blog, Internet TV channel or even podcasts. You may have already seen the most common image of an RSS feed on blogs. It looks like this: RSS Feed

Now its time to create your feed. Simply go to feedburner.com and register your account. After that, follow along with the video below. At the end of the video you will see code copied. When you get that far with your own feed, the code that you copy is to be placed in your sidebar code or where ever you want the feed to be placed. If you are having trouble finding where to place the code feel free to comment here or email me and I would be glad to help you.
